Our ancestors' need for accuracy led them to establish fixed weights and measures as the standard for transactions. To guarantee the integrity and unchangeable nature of these measures, they built "weights houses" where the weights were kept under lock and key. Although, over time, these standard measurements have changed, high standards and responsibility are as much required now as they were in former times.
